We see Jesus,

who was made a little lower than the angels

for the suffering of death,

crowned with glory and honour.

Christ our Passover is sacrificed for us: therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, neither with the leaven of malice and wickedness ; but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth. (1 Corinthians 5:7-8)

There are seven leavens mentioned in the New Testament. These have no place in the Christians life.

Matthew 13 = idolatry

Matthew 13:33 He spoke another parable to them: The kingdom of the heavens is like leaven, which a woman took and hid in three measures of meal until it had been all leavened.

Pharisees = hypocracy and Saducees = infidelity

Matthew 16:6 And Jesus said to them, See and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees.

Pharisees = hypocracy

Luke 12:1 In those times , the myriads of the crowd being gathered together, so that they trod one on another, he began to say to his disciples first, Beware of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy;

Saducees = infidelity

Acts 23:8 For the Saducees say that there is no resurrection, neither angel, nor spirit.

Herod = worldlyness

Mark 8:15 And he charged them, saying, Take heed, beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the leaven of Herod.

Mat 14:6 But when Herod’s birthday was kept, the daughter of Herodias danced before them.

Corenth = evil practice

1Corinthians 5:6 Your boasting is not good. Do ye not know that a little leaven leavens the whole lump?

1Corinthians 5:2 And ye are puffed up, and have not rather mourned, that he that hath done this deed might be taken away from among you.

Galatia = evil doctrine

Galatians 5:9 A little leaven leavens the whole lump.

Galatians 1:7 There be some that trouble you and would pervert the gospel of Christ.

Malice and wickedness = sectarianism

1 Corinthians 5:8 Not with leaven of malice and wickedness, but with unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.

Malice = badness

Wickedness = plots

plotting to do badness = not maintaining the unity of the spirit divides God’s people and is sectarian.

Sincerity = clearness, purity

Truth = according to facts, conforming to reality.
