And God
said to Moses, “Yet will I bring one plague more upon Pharaoh, afterwards he
will let you go hence.”
And Moses
said, “Thus saith the Lord, about midnight will I go out into the midst of
Egypt:
“And all
the firstborn in the land of Egypt shall die, from the firstborn of Pharaoh
that sitteth upon the throne, even unto the firstborn of the maidservant that
is behind the mill.”
And the
Lord spake unto Moses, saying, “Speak unto the congregation of Israel saying,
Take every man a lamb. Your lamb shall be without blemish, a male of the first
year, and ye shall kill it in the evening.
“And ye
shall take the blood and strike it on the two side posts and on the upper door
posts of the houses wherein ye shall eat it.
“The blood
shall be to you for a token upon the houses where ye are; and when I see the
blood I will pass over you, and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy you
when I smite the land of Egypt.
