Pharaoh’s Dream

Joseph’s Egyptian master was kind to him at first. Then he became angry with him and put him in prison.

One day Pharaoh had a dream, and none of his wise men could tell him the meaning of it. Then one of Pharaoh’s servants told of Joseph in the prison, that he could tell the meaning of dreams.

So Pharaoh sent and fetched Joseph out of prison.

And Pharaoh said, “I have heard tell of thee that thou canst understand a dream to interpret it.” And Joseph answered, “It is not in me, God shall give Pharaoh an answer of peace.”

This was Pharaoh’s dream. He dreamed that there were seven fat kine feeding in a meadow, and seven lean kine came and ate up the seven fat kine. The he awoke. And he dreamed again that there were seven ears of corn on one stalk, and seven thin withered ears came up after them and devoured the good ears.

Joseph said, “What God is about to do He showeth unto Pharoah.”

“Behold, there come seven years of great plenty, and there shall arise after them seven years of famine. Therefore let them gather all the food of these good years that come, and that food shall be for store to the land against the seven years of famine.”
