So they came to Jacob their
father, in the land of Canaan, and told him all that had happened to them.
And Jacob
said, “Me ye have bereaved of my children, Joseph is not, and Simeon is not,
and ye will take Benjamin away.” And he said, “Benjamin shall not go down with
you.”
But the
famine grew worse and their corn was all gone. Then Jacob said, “Take your
brother, and arise, go again unto the man.”
So they
took a present and went down to Egypt and stood before Joseph. And Joseph said
to his steward, “Bring these men home, and make a feast, for they shall dine
with me at noon.” So the steward brought them home to Joseph’s house.
Then
Joseph made himself known to them, and he fell on his brother Benjamin’s neck
and kissed him, and they wept. But his brothers were afraid when they knew he
was Joseph, whom they had sold for a slave. But Joseph said, “Be not grieved,
nor angry with yourselves, that ye sold me hither, for God did send me before
you to preserve life.
“Haste ye, go to my father and say,
Thus saith they son Joseph, come down unto me, tarry not.”
