One
day God told Jacob to take his wives Leah and Rachel, and his children, and go
back to the land of Canaan, the land that God had promised him in the dream.
So Jacob
rose up and put his sons and his wives on camels, and took his cattle and all
that he had got while he was with Laban, to go to Isaac his father in Canaan.
And Jacob
sent messengers to Esau his brother to tell him he was going to pass through
his country, the land of Edom.
And the
messengers came back to tell Jacob that Esau was coming and four hundred men
with him.
Then Jacob
was afraid. He had been unkind to Esau and thought Esau was coming to punish
him. So he took some of the best of his goats, and sheep, and camels, and
asses, and sent them on as a present to please Esau.
But when
they met, Esau ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him.
