When Rebekah knew it was
Abraham’s servant, she ran and told her friends. And Laban, Rebekah’s brother,
ran out to Abraham’s servant and said, “Come in, thou blessed of the Lord.”
So he
brought him in and gave food to his camels and water to wash his feet, and set
meat before him.
And the
servant told how God had blessed Abraham and given him flocks and herds and
silver and gold. And how Abraham had sent him to fetch a wife for Isaac, and
how God has led him to meet Rebekah.
And he
asked them if they would let Rebekah go. Then they answered, “The thing comes
from God. Take Rebekah and go let her be thy master’s son’s wife.” And
Abraham’s servant gave presents to Rebekah, and to her mother and to her
brother Laban.
So they
sent Rebekah away with her nurse and they rode upon the camels and followed
Eleazer.
One
evening Isaac went out to meditate in the field, and he looked, and the camels
were coming.
And the
servant told Isaac all that had happened. And Isaac took Rebekah and she became
his wife. And he loved her. Gen. 24: 28-67
