A Jewish Businessman
and
"Safety Certainty and Enjoyment".

A friend
of mine related this incident to me a number of years age and I hope my
memory serves me well enough to relay it to you. There may be some details that
I may not be perfectly accurate about, but I think they will not be too far
off.
There is a
large Jewish community in the city of Newcastle-upon-Tyne, England. They have a
training center there and many businesses owned by Jewish businessmen. At the
time of this incident, the city of Newcastle was in the middle of a safety
first week, promoting safety in the workplace. There were placards in many
places in the city for the purpose of promoting awareness to safety.
A very
dear friend of mine, now with the Lord, was taking a morning train to spend
some time with the Lord's people in another part in England. He was seated in a
compartment alone until two Jewish businessmen entered. At that time you could
always tell a Jewish businessman by the hat he was wearing. They, for some
reason, all wore the same style peculiar to their selves.
After the
train began to move, my friend asked the two men if they were interested in the
safety first campaign as he had some literature on the subject and hoped to be
able to share it with the. They said they were very interested and gladly
accepted the literature. What my friend gave them were two copies of the
booklet by George Cutting titled "Safety Certainty and Enjoyment".
He sat for
a while watching them until one looked over to his traveling companion,
realizing that it was not what he expected. My friend said, "I do not
intend to have you at a mean disadvantage, but you can see that there is more
than one safety first campaign going on in Newcastle at this time.” The answer
that he received from one of the businessmen was, "What I do not like
about you Christians is that you never speak to us from our Bible. This gave my
friend an opening that he was very happy to have. He said, I would be happy to
speak to you from your Bible today.
He started
with verses that showed their messiah was going to come, where he would come
to, how he would come, when he would come and once he came that he would
suffer greatly for His people. The discourse took some time and they were
finally slowing down to stop and let off and take on passengers. It was the
stop where the two men were going to leave the train. My friend realizing he
did not have much more time asked them, as they rose to leave, "Jesus
Christ, whose son is he?" One answered, "He must be the Son of
God."
